SAFD Honors Metzger Student Artist

Fire safety is some that's always top of mind for members of the San Antonio Fire Department, but it's not always something the rest of us think about.  That's why public awareness tools like different types of media are important to inform and remind.  8th grade student Kyra Kimball took 2nd place in the SAFD's Fire Safety Poster Contest.  We're proud of her and her creation...we'll see more from her in the future.

Rocket Theater Troupe Takes Sweepstakes

There are some very talented students in the Judson Theater program, but it takes working together in a real ensemble that gets noticed. That's what happened at the recent National Forensics Tournament at Reagan High School. The team took home 8 National Invitational Tournament of Champions bids and four state qualifiers. The group also won the overall national tournament taking 1st place...that's SWEEPSTAKES!!  Congratulations to everyone including Theater Director Larry Bailey!

Wagner Is Tops At Rocket Review Band Contest

Marching band competitions are getting tougher all the time with each group looking to be more creative, precise, and of course, have great musicianship as well.  The JISD Rocket Review is one of those events that help high school marching bands really see where they are leading up to the UIL competition right around the corner. The Wagner Thunderbird Band took top honors at this event recently at Rutledge Stadium showing they are ready for prime time!  Congratulations to these student-musicians, Assistant Directors Steven Rosario, Jeremy Chapman and Director of Bands Frank Foster.

Rocket Band Takes Marching Contest

The Seguin Marching Contest is a competition that many bands across south Texas march in because there are a lot of great quality bands that typically compete.  It's also a great way to prepare for the UIL marching contest.  The Judson High School Rocket Band came out of the contest as Best in Class 6A, Best Music, Best Visuals, Best Color Guard, Best Drum Majors...and to wrap it up, they won Grand Champion.  Congratulations to these great student musicians and to Director of Bands Jeffrey Keyes.
