Judson Justice Students Prep To Compete

Members of the Judson High School Criminal Justice Student Association are training and practicing to compete in the upcoming Texas High School Mock Trial competition.  For the last five years, the Judson CJSA members have been participating in this big event and it is a great experience for those interested in how the legal system works and the process of a real court trial.
One of the coolest parts of this program at Judson is the partnership it has with St. Mary's University School of Law. Mr. Sheppard, the Dean of the School of Law, allows our students to use the StMU moot court room every Thursday to practice and get the feel of being in a court room.  That will be important experience when they get to attend a Mock Trial clinic in Dallas in November.  It'll really count when the Regional Competition comes around in January...That will be held in downtown San Antonio at the Bexar County Court House.
It's great practice and a wonderful opportunity to learn the process of a court room... beyond what we may see in the movies or on TV.

Judson Students Pitch In For Night Out

National Night Out is a big effort across the country to visit with and in some cases reacquaint ourselves with our neighbors to assert safety and security in our neighborhoods.  It joins citizens with each other and our law enforcement agencies to work together for safer cities. Participating in this effort were Judson High School students with the Criminal Justice program. They were sponsors helping support the Converse Police Department's part in the evening.  It's great to see these students volunteering their time and efforts.

Board Recognitions 8-18-16

Board recognitions usually take a break during the summer time just because most everyone goes different directions during the break, but JISD Police Chief Teresa Ramon has been busy this summer. She was recently recognized by the Texas School Based Law Enforcement with a very prestigious honor.  Because of her impact here and beyond, at its recent state conference, the TxSBLE recently awarded her with a Lifetime Achievement Award. This is a pioneering award that recognizes law enforcement officers who have established and sustained efforts toward keeping schools safe and secure. The JISD Board of Trustees wanted to recognize Chief for this achievement.  Congratulations to her and the JISD Police Department.

Law Enforcement Appreciation Week: Thank You

They do so much to help us feel safe, secure and ensuring our freedoms in this country where there are so many opportunities.  We want to thank those who carry out this call each day...many times without a thought to their own personal safety.  Here in Judson ISD we are in a unique position in that we serve seven municipalities as well as Bexar County. In turn, the district is served by the law enforcement agencies of these cities and we want to say thank you to each for their service...and of course to our own JISD Police Department who keep our students and staff safe each day.

Judson ISD Meets Texas School Safety Bar

Keeping campuses as safe as possible is not only a priority of Judson ISD, but it's an ongoing process as times change.  The Texas School Safety Center at San Marcos (Texas State University) has awarded JISD a school safety certificate. That means that the district has met all criteria determined by the TSSC at Texas State University.
