Miller's Point Sees A Coyote On Campus!

It's not unheard of to see some wildlife around the Judson ISD area, but Miller's Point Elementary School spotted a coyote on the campus recently...that's the Spurs' Coyote.  He and his spirit squad paid a visit to the school in connection with the team's "What'cha Reading Program."  It's an effort to inspire elementary school-age children to grow their interest in reading from a passing necessity to a love.  The Coyote and his helpers came by to read as a reward for students accomplishments in literacy.

The Spurs and Whataburger have teamed up for this effort that will reward more than 25,000 Bexar County students for their hard work. Every student who earns the "What'cha Reading" achievement certificate has the chance to win big prizes through a drawing later on. Thank you to those sponsors, as well as the Coyote and his reading team.  In the meantime, watch out at your campus too...you could see some similar wildlife around your students with a love for reading.

Thank you also to Miller's Point Librarian Andrea Colwell for putting the campus on the Coyote's reading list.

Red Ribbon Week: Stand Against Drugs

Everyone has their own unique potential to offer their community and even the world. That has a lot of power because that can have such an impact. But drug abuse short-circuits a person's potential and keeps them from being everything they can be.  Red Ribbon Week is all about encouraging everyone to be drug-free so each person can develop and grow their true capabilities.  Our campuses will be participating in Red Ribbon activities throughout the week of October 22-26, 2018 and we invite you to join in supporting them.

College Fair: It's About Options

Ah, to be young again and have the options to explore what best fits one's interests and talents...like the upcoming 2018 College Fair. This opportunity is coming up at Wagner High School October 23, 2018, from 6 pm to 7:30 pm.  College and Military representatives will be on hand to give students a rundown on their unique selling point and how best to pursue those offerings.

Patriot Chosen As Player Of The Week

Congratulations to Veterans Memorial Patriot Quarterback Joseph Richardson for being named the Jon Wayne Player of the Week by the folks with Sports-2-Nite. The Patriots are having a great first season of varsity football and he's a big reason why.

JISD Hall Of Honor Deadline This Friday

This Friday, October 19th is the last day to get your Hall of Honor nominations forms in. Judson ISD has so many people who have made a positive impact on their school and community over the years and we want to recognize them. The JISD Hall of Honor is that opportunity to honor those people who have put in the time and made the sacrifices to be not only great in their chosen field, but also influential in a way that shows leadership. These individuals make those around them better.

There are two categories in which to nominate someone. The JISD Athletic Hall of Honor and the JISD Civic Hall of Honor. These are individuals who have distinguished themselves athletically while a student in JISD and beyond or through their professional or personal contributions.

There’s a simple online form to nominate someone and outline his or her qualifications for this honor. To start your submission just CLICK HERE. Again, the deadline is Friday, October 19th.
