Convocation 2018, Drumming To Choose Judson ISD

View More Convocation Photos

This 2018 theme for the school year is "Choose Judson ISD," so the emphasis will be all the reasons why a person should choose Judson ISD.  It's no secret that there are a lot of choices a parent has for their child's education. We want them to know what JISD has to offer...and there is a lot! From fine arts to STEM education and all the extracurricular activities that keep so many kids engaged and enthusiastic.

This year's convocation was hosted at Freeman Coliseum and it gave everyone the opportunity gather in one place at one time like a JISD family.  It featured the district's new superintendent Dr. Jeanette Ball, the Drum Cafe and the awarding of the first ever Convocation Spirit Stick Award.  Take a look at this rousing video of Convocation 2018.

Staff Development, A Sign Of More Excellence

It takes a lot to get staff members ready for a school year.  From district office personnel to everyone at each campus, it's a big undertaking.  The Curriculum and Instruction Department orchestrated this massive project from the district perspective and principals and administrators at each campus drove the preparations at the school level.  There are all sorts of new guidelines, changes to instruction, innovative ways of engaging students as well as just plain good reminders of how to handle classroom culture.  It's a sure sign that school is right around the corner and Judson ISD staff members are busy getting ready for students to have a quality year.

A Letter From Dr. Ball: The A-F Rating System

JISD Superintendent Dr. Jeanette Ball may be new to Judson ISD, but she's been around education for more than 20 years and is well informed about accountability. The attached letter is her response to the recently launched A-F rating system that TEA is utilizing as an accountability tool for school districts.

Local Church And Candlewood Work Together

Beauty can come in a number of different ways and at Candlewood Elementary School it was covering the campus.  Late in July, volunteers from Kingdom Life Christian Ministries and school community members met at the campus to spread their beauty any way they could.  They spent some sweat equity on the grounds in the form of new trees, plants and the hard work it took to dig the wholes, prep the ground and put them where they would look the best.

After all was said and done, the beauty was not just the new color from the plants and trees, but the beauty also in working together, making new friends, and showing kindness through the gift of giving time.  We appreciate our friends at Kingdom Life Christian Ministries and its adoption of the school. We look forward to a great partnership.

Slight Time Change For Pre-K Program

Judson ISD wanted to make sure parents of students in the Pre-K program were aware of a slight time change in the program.  The release time in the morning will be just a few minutes later than last year.  The afternoon session will remain the same.  This change was to remain compliant to instructional minute requirements as mandated by state law.  Take a look at the flyer below
