Child Nutrition Department Employees of the Month

The September Employees of the Month for the Child Nutrition Department are Luz Ruiz from Judson High School, Lizzie Bell from Woodlake Hills Middle School and Sandra Cruz from Hopkins Elementary School. Congratulations to you all.


National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholars at Wagner HS

Wagner's Army JROTC Student Commander, Jarrett Battistini and Wagner band member, Joseph Flores have been selected as 2011-2012 National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholars.  About 5000 students were selected from more than 235,000 Hispanic students who took the 2010 PSAT.  Those with a GPA of 3.5 or higher were designated as scholars.  Congratulations on this outstanding achievement.

Healthy Eating at JECA

JECA students are taking advantage of a new, healthy option at their campus.  The new salad bar was unveiled for students and staff.  It was a donation from the City of San Antonio CPPW grant.

JLA Teacher Nominated for National Award

Judson Learning Academy teacher, Gabriele Simpson has been named as a finalist for Simon Youth Foundation's Teacher of the Year Award.  Ms. Simpson was nominated for creating student-specific tutorials to help students pass the exit-level TAKS math exam.  She identified individual strenghts and weaknesses and crafted unique lessons for each student.  Simon Youth Foundation will select the winner in October from 23 academies across the country.

Kitty Hawk MS Teachers Surprised by Spurs Organization

Two Kitty Hawk Middle School teachers have been named as semi-finalists in the Spurs Team-Up Challenge!  Mr. Acevedo and Ms. Rakotomanga each received $2,500 to begin the projects they submitted as part of the competition.  In April, five champions will be named and they'll each win $20,000!
