Judson AFJROTC Performs at Spurs and State Convention

The Judson High School AFJROTC has been in high-demand, performing at two high-profile events in the past week.  They were selected to present the colors at the TIVA Convention for teachers from all over the state.  This was the Honor Guard's second appearance at the event.  Also, they were invited to present the colors at the Spurs game and their performance was outstanding!


Rumors at JECA

The Judson Early College Academy's Theatre Department just finished its run of "Rumors" by Neil Simon.  After contacting Mr. Simon, he was nice enough to allow JECA to produce the cut version of the show.  Rumors is the largest production so far since the Theatre Department was created in 2010.

JEF Gala Video - This Just In

The Denim and Diamonds Gala was a big success for the Judson Education Foundation!  Donations raised will go toward student scholarships and teacher grants.  William Taylor "Spike" Dykes, Texas Tech Head Football Coach was the keynote speaker and David Chancellor, News 4 WOAI Sportscaster, was the Master of Ceremonies.  There was a live and silent auction and the 2012 Hall of Honor Inductees were announced - they include Teresa Neighbors, Curt Young, Kathy Rakel and Thomas K. Brown.


Wagner HS Football Standout in Express News

Wagner High School's Derrick Kindred is featured in the San Antonio Express News!  The two-time All-Area selection was heavily recruited - but will fulfill his commitment to UTSA!

Kitty Hawk MS Teacher Receives Community Service Award

Kitty Hawk Middle School teacher, Julian Acevedo, is being recognized for his significant accomplishments and outstanding leadership in programs and activities that promote community involvement.  The SkillsUSA Advisor and TeamUp Challenge Captain, has been awarded the IOTA Lambda Sigma-Sigma Chapter and the Texas Industrial Vocational Association (TIVA), Outstanding Teacher in Community Service.  Mr. Acevedo's students recently raised $5,000 toward "Operation Covered Playground."  The project will benefit the families of the Army Fisher House to help cover their playground which couldn't be used during extreme temperatures this past summer.  The Fisher House provides a place to stay for families of service members who are receiving medical care.
