Ranger Runners Accomplish Marathon Goal

Students from the Salinas Elementary Running Club recently participated in the Subway Kids Rock run held downtown during the Rock and Roll Marathon. The run marked the last mile in their journey for 26.2 miles, a full marathon that they have completed. This week, the kids are wearing their blue shirts and medals from the weekend. If you see one of them in the hall be sure and give them a high five for a job well done. Great job Ranger Runners! The school and your coaches are proud of you.

The Track and Field sensation is a 4-year varsity athlete for the Thunderbirds making his mark in the Triple Jump and the High Jump. Besides holding the school record in the Triple Jump, Jamal made school history by finishing second in the High Jump at the Texas Relays in 2016 and finishing fourth in the event at the UIL State Meet. He was ranked in the top three in the state of Texas in both of his events last year as a junior. Jamal will be looking forward to competing for the gold again this year. Congratulations to Jamal and his family!
