Your 2016 Bond Money At Work

Box office side of parking lot

One of the first projects from the 2016 bond that's turning dirt...actually in this case it's turning asphalt, is the Rutledge Stadium parking lot.  If you've been to any event at the stadium over recent years and driven across the parking lot, you know it's needed work.  Well, it's underway with some of the work preps already finished on the box office side, while the end zone area has been excavated with the old surface being ripped up and will be resurfaced next.  The box office side at least is scheduled to be finished by the beginning of football season with the end zone following soon after that.  The last part will be the lot in front of the gym. Each one will feature a beefed up composition and structure.
We'll soon bring you more information and photos during the summer of other bond projects that are underway.  Be looking for updates periodically showing progress of the work. It'll give you an idea of what's going on.

Adventure Club Summer Fun

Judson ISD's Adventure Club program has been providing summer fun for kids age 5-12 for years and it continues this summer as well.  Campers from the three campuses hosting the Adventure Club Summer Camps got together for some special games and activities as one group at Judson Middle School recently and they had a great time.  School's out and these kids are having a great time!

Kitty Hawk SkillsUSA Team Gives Back

The Kitty Hawk Middle School SkillsUSA program really blew away the state contest with the team it sent and for the second time in a row Mr. Julian Acevedo took the Opening and Closing team to the national conference in Louisville Kentucky.  While they were there, team members participated in a community improvement project to build bench tables that will be donated to the Louisville-area nonprofit organizations, public schools and community parks.  A big thanks to Lowes for donating the supplies and tools while the students put in the sweat equity. Thanks to Mr. Acevedo for involving these kids in doing something for others.

We'll update you on the competition as the news comes in!

Metzger Band Makes Run At TMEA Competition

The Texas Music Educators Association's State Honor Competition has been going on and within the last several weeks the Metzger Middle School Band has been showing how good they are.  The band recently competed at the TMEA Area contest at Medina Valley High School. That put them up against some of the best middle school bands in south Texas.  We want to congratulate them on representing JISD so well.  They placed third and just missed out on advancing to state. But this is as far as any middle school in the district has gone in this contest in 31 years. The last time was Kitty Hawk Middle School in 1986 that placed 4th in state.  A big thanks to all the hard work the kids put in and of course band directors John Robertson and Bryant Aynes for guiding the ship this far.

Check out the new Metzger Band logo...an extension of the band's pride coming from their hard work. The district results below...region results below that. That is awesome everyone!
