Metzger Teachers Profiled On Local TV

The start of school has been a total effort on everyone's part...from custodial staff to administrators, but especially the teachers who got ready for students and their parents.  A few weeks ago two teachers at Metzger Middle School were profiled as they prepared for the big start.  The unique aspect of these two teachers was that while one was a longstanding teacher and the other was brand new, they both were veterans.  Take a look at this piece by KSAT reporter David Sears.

Board Recognitions 9-21-17

Pledge reader, Samantha Chi is 5th grade student at Salinas Elementary School. She is an honor student, and is described as a great helper in the classroom.  She seeks out opportunities to help other students and has a very positive attitude.  Salinas Elementary is a better place because of students like Samantha.

The Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association recognizes each year outstanding student councils throughout the state of Texas. This is based on evidence of campuses that foster student leadership opportunities. Converse Elementary School was one of the relative few in the state that was awarded this honor for the 2016-17 school year.

Go Public recently hosted a Top Chef style cooking contest hosted at the Culinary Arts Institute at the Pearl.  It matched up cooking teams from the culinary programs at six local school districts.  Southwest ISD NEISD, NISD, Alamo Heights ISD, East Central ISD and of course Judson ISD.  Each team included the culinary instructor, two senior students and the district superintendent.  Their task was to create a dish from a list of ingredients in one hour…and make it delicious.  Judges looked for elements of teamwork, cleanliness, technique and of course taste.  Our team from Wagner High School made us proud winning the Best Overall award of the contest.

Periodically the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) recognizes businesses or organizations that have been nominated as helpful and generous partners with public education through its Business Recognition Program.  Here at Judson ISD we know the value of the help we have received from CPS Energy…particularly through its Demand Response program where the district has received helpful incentives for energy efficient efforts and investments.  We are pleased to announce that the generosity you have shown is now recognized at the state level.  The Texas Association of School Boards joins us in acknowledging your support for our schools. To accept this certificate of appreciation from Superintendent Montoya was CPS Energy Representative Joe Jones.

New Elementary School Groundbreaking Postponed

The groundbreaking for Judson ISD's newest elementary school has been postponed.  The rainy weather the last couple of days has produced some very sloppy conditions at the construction site located near Texas Palms and Binz-Engleman .  The new date is Wednesday October 11, 2017 at 10 am. District offices are in the process of trying to contact all those involved and likely to attend, about the change. Hopefully that will give enough time for the ground to dry up a bit.

Football Week #5: Judson-Steele, Wagner-Clemens

So far it's been an incredibly exciting varsity football season in Judson ISD.  The Judson Rockets are doing well so far with a big win over New Braunfels, but they have a big challenge ahead against Steele. The Knights have gotten the better of the series for the past several years and the Rockets are looking to correct that trend at Rutledge.  Meanwhile, the T-Birds  stumble a bit last week against New Braunfels Canyon, but are still 3-1 and look to learn from the last contest and use those lessons to take on Clemens at Lehnhoff Stadium.  Both Judson and Wagner teams have great opportunitiess before them...let's be there this weekend to experience it all with them and encourage them through it all.
