A Regular School Board Meeting of the Board of Trustees of Judson ISD will be held February 15, 2018, beginning at 7:00 PM in the ERC Board Room, 8205 Palisades Dr., Live Oak, Texas.

Board Recognitions 2-15-18

Pledge Leader Dillan Tanner is a 5th grade student leader in a number of ways at Olympia Elementary School. She is in the Mayor Fitness Council, Vice President of Olympia’s Student Council, serves on our safety patrol and she is on the A-B honor roll.  Her favorite subject is Math and outside of school she enjoys gymnastics and likes to color.


Our first recognition comes from Converse Elementary School. The Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association or TEPSA recognizes effective student councils around the state that are active in not only their school, but also in their community participating in service projects and charitable events.  That’s exactly what the Converse Elementary School Student Council does.  They are learning the impact of making a difference in their school and the community.  They have been selected as a TEPSA Honor Student Council. This is the second year in a row.  Congratulations to the following members: Ashtyn Polchert, Brent Bingheim, Ryleigh Gunter, Hannah Brewer, Logan Jahn, Taeja Cubit, Jasmine Aguilera, Austin Dekens, Alanys Velez-Cruz, Kayla Jahn, Serenity Rodriguez, Emily Hedlund,  Jovie Zamarron, Anika Tinney, Mary Frey, Ty Aiken, and Mattie Crabtree.


Our second recognition comes from the JSTEM Academy.  Science, Technology, Engineering and Math as you know is a part of the educational curriculum that gets a lot of attention these days because of the kind of high tech jobs out there that students need to be ready for.  So quality instruction in this field is a must.  Recently the Dee Howard Foundation selected one of our teachers as its STEM Education Excellence Award recipient.  It specifically spotlights those teachers that best incorporate aviation and aerospace concepts into STEM instruction and doing so to underserved students in the San Antonio metro area.

Mr. Ohman oversees the JSTEM SmartLab and directs something called Make Time…an afterschool program that emphasizes invention and repurposing.  Many of his students have been very successful in contests sponsored by organizations such as NASA, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and DuPont.


Our final recognition is from the Child Nutrition Department.  From food preparation and serving, to the planning of meals, this department is always busy making sure that our students and staff have delicious tasting meals that are nutritious and expose students to a variety of foods so they can expand their palate as they grow and mature.  The Texas Department of Agriculture recently selected Judson ISD’s Child Nutrition Department for its “Best of the Bunch Award” in the 2017 Local Products Challenge. Less than 10 percent of school districts in the state attain this level of achievement.  This takes leadership and support to make sure that the food quality remains high and local produce is served when at all possible.  That means fresher food for kids and at the same time supporting local producers.  The board would like to recognize Child Nutrition Director Janet Daniel and Assistant Director Beveylon Concha. They are also being presented with the official recognition from Texas Department of Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller.


Wagner Soccer Star Carlos Beltran Signs NLI

Wagner Senior Carlos Beltran signed his National Letter of Intent with Our Lady of the Lake University to play soccer in the fall.  Carlos is a 4 year lettermen and 3 year captain. In his Junior year he made 2nd team all-district and received honorable mention as a Freshman.  Congratulations to him and his family!

Slam Dunk-3 Pt. Shooting Contest At Wagner

You may know that College Basketball's NCAA National Tournament is in San Antonio this year on March 31st and April 2nd.  What you may not know is that Wagner High School has been chosen as the site for one of the Final Four's most popular events...the HIgh School Slam Dunk and 3 point Championships.  It's set for April 1st on CBS at 2:30 pm. The event is not open to the public, but Wagner students will be allowed to attend. The local CBS affiliate KENS 5 will have the contest for everyone to see.  Here is a link for more information. 


JISD, CPS Energy Partner For Poster Contest

Energy costs are typically the second highest expense for school districts. To raise energy awareness, our district is holding a poster contest to the help spread the message in our schools. 

All schools within our district are welcome to participate. One winner will be selected in each school category (elementary, middle and high school) and these 3 winners will have their designs printed on a poster that will be printed for distribution.  So get your artistic juices flowing and enter...you still have time.  The deadline is Friday, March 2, 2018.  See below for details.
