CTE Career Expo A Big Success

Photos taken by JHS Junior Marisa Allen

The Career & Technical Education Department hosted a Career Expo at Judson High School. Over 40 business partners were in attendance to meet and greet our JISD parents and students. This was an opportunity to showcase a variety of careers and meet those individuals who can give more information regarding the types of jobs they hire for and the types of skills needed to do those jobs. Thank you to our JISD parents and students who were in attendance and a big thank you to our business partners, listed below, who took the time to be with us on this night.

JECA Seven Star Celebration

Judson Early College Academy earned all seven possible distinctions from the Texas Education Agency based on its STAAR performance in 2017. Those distinctions are otherwise known as stars and include the areas of academic achievement in English Language Arts/Reading, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies, Top 25 percent Student Progress, Top 25 percent Closing Performance Gaps and Postsecondary Readiness. Only a little over 400 campuses in the state achieved that. Below are photos from JECA's Seven Star Celebration event in which Dr. Montoya presented the award and each teacher was recognized for being part of the school's success. Congratulations to everyone on a job well done!

JISD Brings Food To You!

The Judson ISD Child Nutrition Department is proud to unveil its new mobile feeding unit called "Bus'N Meals."  It is a fully converted bus that features such conveniences as a full size warmer, refrigerator, four steam wells, multi-colored LED lights, comfortable seating, device charging stations and nutritional education information.  Child Nutrition launched the new initiative recently and made one of its first visits to Judson Learning Academy.  It will likely continue to be used beyond the school year to serve students over the summer.

Judson ISD Recipient of Magna Award

Judson ISD has been selected as one of five large school districts across the country as a first place winner for the Magna Awards. The Magna Award is presented to those districts by the National School Boards Association that break down barriers for underserved students.  The NSBA is a leading advocate for public education and supports equity and excellence through school board leadership.

More than 100 submissions were reviewed and in the end, three Grand Prize Winning districts were recognized and 15 First Place Winners were selected...five in three enrollment categories.  JISD was one of three Texas School Districts selected as First Place Winners.  This recognition is a testimony to all those who are producing excellence with our students every day no matter who they are or what their background is. Thank you.
