Board Recognitions Regular Meeting 2-19-19

Pledge Leader:

He is Jordan Russell.  Jordan is a 5th-grade student with a positive attitude.  He is involved in the Franz Sports Club where he enjoys playing football. His favorite subject is math and he likes playing video games.  Jordan also co-authored two books with a fellow 5th-grade student that are available for check out in the Franz Library.  They are currently working on books 3 and 4.

 

The first recognition comes from the Business and Professionals of America Organization and includes both Veterans Memorial and Wagner High Schools. Business Professionals of America is the premier CTSO (Career and Technical Student Organization) for students pursuing careers in business management, information technology, finance, office administration, and other related career fields. Out of the regionals competition at New Braunfels High School, these students have qualified to move on to the state competition in Dallas in March. First, from Veterans Memorial High School are:

Special Olympics is truly a wonderful program that offers opportunities for these special athletes to be involved in a variety of sports and activities to get and keep them moving, motivated and encouraged. The thing is they end up moving and encouraging us so much of the time. These students were part of the Judson ISD Special Olympic Bowling team that went to the state tournament in Austin and made us all proud. Here this evening are:
 
The next recognition is from Judson High School and Wagner High School.  DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe.  The following Judson High School students are Texas DECA State Finalists that will be attending the competition in Dallas, TX later this month.

The next recognition comes from the Energy Management Department.  The JISD Energy Management Department has been partnering with CPS Energy on a number of different energy conservation projects and the effort is reaping benefits in a big way. CPS Energy and Clear Result have a huge check which represents the total of rebates received for the past year for Energy Solution projects done throughout the District including  LED Lighting retrofits at Metzger and Hartman Gym, Woodlake Hills and Secondary Alternative Interior lights, Metzger and Wagner special needs areas, Hopkins Café, Transportation new offices, Hartman front entrance and also including Escondido and Wortham  LED lighting and Energy efficient chillers.          Presenting the check was:  Joe Jones, Nick Jones, and John Barrow. Also with Clear Result is Jennifer Henriquez    $219,887.37!!
