Community Parade Celebrating Education
Some people think if you dress up a couple of old cars, march a few costumed kids and cute animals down the street you have a parade. While there's nothing wrong with that, Coronado Village Elementary is taking it to another level. Later this month the school will be hosting a full fledged parade that will cover a mile and a half around the school's neighborhood. While this is the first year for the parade, it marks the third year of a Texas 21st Century grant that funds a number of programs for kids through the Texas Education Agency. To give you an idea of the size of this coming parade, the school has rounded up heavy hitter sponsors such as Boys and Girls Club of San Antonio, HEB, Sonic, Randolph Brooks FCU, McDonald's as well as the Army, Air Force and Marines. Some 20 floats are set to roll down the route so far, with more entries expected. The theme of the parade will be "Community Pride in Education," and is scheduled for July 26, at 8 am. The start will be at Coronado Village Elementary located at 213 Amistad in Universal City. Take a look at the parade route.
