Converse Students Paint To Symphony Music

Converse Elementary 4th and 5th-grade students participated in the San Antonio Symphony's Young People's Concerts Paint to Music Contest. They listened to music by Mozart and Beethoven while creating artwork for the contest. The San Antonio Symphony League has sponsored this event for 45 years. Over 50 entries were submitted and both grade levels had students earn 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards. The winning artwork was projected on the back wall of the stage while the San Antonio Symphony played at the Tobin Center during the First Viennese School Meets the American Revolution Concert Series in February. Congratulations to 5th Graders Genesys Rodriguez - 1st Place, Mikahla Hornsby - 2nd Place, Angelina Vaughn - 3rd Place and 4th Graders Georgiann Butler - 1st Place, Enrique Estrada - 2nd Place, Michelle Villanueva - 3rd Place, and their Music Teacher Mrs. June Tilton. Each student also received art supplies. The first place winners also received an invitation to an evening concert by the San Antonio Symphony with five free seats (a $750 value) and recognition during the concert. Thank you to the San Antonio Symphony Grant Donors and Mr. Keith Witt for encouraging our young students to experience this amazing event.
