Judson ISD

Dr. Montoya Announces Retirement

Dr. Carl A. Montoya was hired by the Judson ISD Board of Trustees in March of 2015 and has many accomplishments to his credit while serving as superintendent.  He has spent 44 years in education, 15 as a superintendent, but he has decided to announce his retirement effective the end of the fall 2018 semester.  He came to Judson ISD from the valley area at Brownsville ISD as its superintendent and led Aransas Pass ISD before that in that same capacity.

Below is a joint statement from Dr. Montoya and the School Board about this decision.

Dr. Carl Montoya has announced his resignation as Superintendent of Schools for the Judson Independent School District effective at the end of the fall semester in 2018, after completing 44 years in education.
On behalf of the entire District, the Board of Trustees expresses its sincere appreciation to Dr. Montoya for the District’s achievements and accomplishments during his tenure as Superintendent. Working with the Board of Trustees and his team of administrators and educators, Dr. Montoya has helped the District pass two major bonds for much-needed construction and improvements in our facilities; open Veterans Memorial High School; and expand the District’s STEM, Dual Credit/AP, and career technology programs.
Dr. Montoya thanks the present and past Boards of Trustees for providing him with the opportunity to serve in the Judson Independent School district. Dr. Montoya would like to express his heartfelt appreciation to the staff and community for their support of the District’s programs and services during his term as Superintendent, and throughout his years of service in the community and district.
The Board extends its best wishes to Dr. Montoya in his future endeavors. On its part, the Board will begin discussing and planning its search for a new superintendent in order to not disrupt the district’s operations.
