JECA Student Gets Rare Intern Opportunity

Congratulations go out to Judson Early College Academy sophomore Gabriella Montemayor who was one of twenty students that were vetted through a tough selection process to spend a summer at the Voelcker Research Academy.  Last spring, each San Antonio high school was asked to nominate three freshmen to be considered for a seven-week internship. It's an opportunity that gives future health care professionals the chance to work with renowned faculty from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.  Gabriella took full advantage of the venture and made the most of it.

As a part of the internship, Gabriella also created a research poster that she presented at the Voelcker Biomedical Research Academy Scholars Symposium and Graduation during the summer.  This was a great experience that she'll remember and draw from as she pursues her dreams at JECA and beyond.
