JISD Students Head To World Robotics Event

An all girls team from two Judson ISD schools have qualified to compete in the First Lego League World Festival in Houston later this month.  The advancing group called Team Flaming Space Turtles is a community robotics team comprised of JSTEM students Sarah Alvarado and Charli Weaver along with Kitty Hawk Middle School students Liz Meneses and Kimberly Carasco, and Mary Beckman of Lopez Middle School (NEISD).  They are going to Houston because at the recent Alamo Regional Curiosity Division Championships they placed 2nd in Robot Performance and the big win, the Champion's Award for the Curiosity Division.

Congratulations to these students and a HIGH FIVE to JSTEM classmates Brad Maudlen and Katie Duran who competed at this level two years ago and served as mentors and support to the Flaming Space Turtles this time around.  Now that's teamwork!

This is such a great group of girls. I enjoyed my time with them at Coronado Village Elementary. Way to go!
