Kitty Hawk Wins Garver Challenge Award

The Garver company is one of the top design companies in the world. It's also been around for a long time, in fact, it's celebrating its centennial with what it is called the Garver Chain Reaction Challenge. The company provided STEM supply kids and other support resources to 100 schools across its 11 state footprint. In the end, the challenge was to create Rube-Goldberg chain reaction contraptions to worked together and video record them for their challenge submission to be judged by Garver experts. Out of the 100 schools that took the challenge, only 9 were selected...and Kitty Hawk Middle Schools creation WON! When you look at the video, you'll see what kind of work went into this...it's truly amazing. As a winner, Kitty Hawk received $1,000 and a trophy for the achievement.

This challenge is the company's way of celebrating 100 years of serving in the design and engineering field and helping students to develop the type of creativity and critical thinking skills that were characteristic of a young Neal Garver who opened up a one-man firm back in 1919. This kind of project challenge nurtures the minds of future engineers and scientists. Take a look at the video demonstrating the Kitty Hawk Middle School creation.
