Metzger Students Get Into World Read Aloud Day

Metzger Middle School students celebrated World Read Aloud day in a proactive way. Some of the school's 8th graders kicked it off by taking some time to read to Escondido Elementary School students. They had a great experience by reading aloud to all grade levels there. The administrators, teachers, and staff at Escondido were wonderful in the way they worked with the readers to get the elementary students engaged. This was a great way to get the younger and the older students involved in the love of reading.

A number of Metzger students are involved in the "I Love Reading" challenge. Students have many activities and incentives that they are working towards. The goal is to have the students that choose to complete the challenge to read at least 5 books this month from the genre of their choosing along with some other fun hands-on activities. It is not mandatory but it's to motivate students to get some extra reading done this month.  Along with the incentives for the students, teachers are encouraged to share what they are reading and create a bulletin board sharing students' reading, listing their favorite quotes from books, and author shares so they can be displayed all over the campus.
