New JISD ROTC Obstacle Course Unveiled

The JROTC program within Judson ISD is growing at all the comprehensive high schools. Part of the training and instruction of these students in this program is physical training. To make sure students get the best opportunity to be ready, Veterans Memorial and JISD cut the ribbon on a new physical fitness obstacle course.  This facility is located next to the Veterans Memorial High School campus and includes all sorts of tests of balance, strength, and technique. It was made possible by the generous donations from Lowe's Home Improvement Centers.  Dennis Smith, with Lowe's, was on hand along with his support team to see the end product and watch how the students use the course.

This facility is a district course that all the JROTC programs will be able to use and will likely be the site for a number of competitions in the future. The ribbon cutting was also a great opportunity to display the recent achievements of the Veterans Memorial JROTC group and to announce that the school formally received notice from the Department of the Army that the school is officially recognized as an Army JROTC program site and the support that comes with it.  Congratulations.

What a great opportunity for all ROTC programs in the district. This will give the cadets a chance to see what is expected of them in the future with our Armed Services. Thanks to Lowe's for being a involved community organization.
