This Casino Night Was Not A Gamble, It Helped JEF

When you think of a casino, you might think of a group of winners and losers at the blackjack or roulette tables, but it wasn't the case at the Judson Education Foundations Gala. One of the foundation's biggest fundraisers of the year took on a different theme and different location this time around. The University of the Incarnate Word's Sky Room was the venue while the theme featured a Casino Royale motif and gaming area. The casino idea was one that played up to people's enjoyment of playing games. With real dealers, chips, and game tables, the fun and the chance was authentic, but nobody came out with a loss.  The big winners were teachers and students who will benefit from the foundation's grants and scholarships that will be awarded later this year.

Then, of course, there was the Hall of Honor. Always one of the big draws each year, the induction of the new members of the Judson ISD Halls of Honor is always special.  This year the district received close to 20 nominations that the selection committees reviewed, discussed and voted on. This year three members entered the Athletic Hall of Honor and one entered the Civic Hall of Honor.  Coaches Sterling Jeter, Jimmy Dykes, and Melvin Boelter went in on the athletic side, while Dr. Melinda Salinas entered on the civic side.

Along with the great food, dancing, prizes, auction items, it was a wonderful night of fun, food, and games...all to help our students and teachers. A total coming soon!
