Veterans Student Excels In Academics, Forensics

Sarah placing at Regionals

This has been an awesome year for Sarah Raffel when it comes to academic and forensic competition.
She was a leader on Veterans Memorial High School's Inaugural Academic Decathlon Team, which ranked the highest of any Judson ISD team. She was among the first VMHS students to compete at the UIL District Continental Congress Competition in the Fall. She and her partner Aubrey Cimics got second at the District Academic Meet in Cross-Examination Speech, and they qualified for the State UIL Academic competition in Cross Examination.  They were the only team in Judson ISD to compete at State in that category. At the District Academic Meet in the Spring, Sarah, in her first formal competition, got third in Informative and qualified for the Regional UIL Academic Meet. Recently, Sarah got second in her preliminary round and qualified for the finals. She was named the 5th best informative Speaker in Region 5 in 5A. Sarah was the sole representative from Judson ISD, and she did incredibly well.  Congratulations!
