VMHS Orchestra Makes History At UIL

Veterans Memorial High School had two orchestras competing at the UIL Concert & Sight-Reading contest. The varsity orchestra competed at the UIL Varsity level for the first time in school history and achieved "Sweepstakes" by earning straight 1's (Superior Ratings) from each of the six judges.

The junior varsity (Non-Varsity) orchestra achieved a Superior rating on stage. Last year both orchestras entered as Non-Varsity and Sub Non-Varsity. Both orchestras achieved Sweepstakes with the junior varsity being the first orchestra to earn Sweepstakes for Veterans Memorial High School. Their instructor Amy Rabago is very proud of all the talented, hard working musicians in the VMHS orchestra. One of the judges left the group with this comment, "A concert is a gift that performers give to their audience. Thank you." Great job everyone.
