Motivation comes in many forms. For Hayden Paving, being located right behind Hopkins Elementary gave them the perfect motivation to make a difference. Randi Claborn and Elizabeth Laffew from Hayden Paving dropped by Hopkins this week to make a $500 donation to the campus that is almost literally in their backyard.
“Our corporate office is in Houston but we are right here. We wanted to get more involved in our community here in Kirby,” Claborn said.
Principal Terry Combs gathered some students to accept the donation on behalf of the campus.
“This donation is for you, for our school. This will go towards something that all of our students will benefit from,” said Combs, bringing smiles, cheers and even a hug or two.
The sound of happy children was another motivation for Hayden Paving’s generosity. Some days, the playground sounds can be heard at their office.
“Hearing them laugh just makes you smile,” said Laffew.
Principal Combs was all smiles as she welcomed Hayden Paving into the Hopkins family.
“We are just so grateful to have the support of our community. This kind of surprise investment in our school and our students is special,” Combs said.
