Christine Parker is the November JISD Key Contributor!
As the counselor at Miller’s Point Elementary, Parker tends to the day-to-day needs of students and staff on her campus while also facilitating programs on campus that make Miller’s Point a better place to learn and work.
Every week, Parker hosts Tea Time with several staff members to check in with them and see how she can best support them and the students in their classes. This kind of personal interaction allows her to make important connections that improve teaching and learning on her campus.
Not only does Parker model treating others well but also encourages others to do the same. She created the Miller’s Point Kindness Crew to spread kindness throughout the school community. Recently, the Kindness crew held a “Spread Kindness Morning” greeting families in the drop-off line with handmade kindness signs, streamers and cheers.
Parker continuously reminds the MPE Family that treating others well is a priority. The Kindness Pledge is recited every day and once a week a student from the Kindness Crew shares a Kindness Mission of the Week.
Parker continues to find creative ways to positively impact her school community, whether it’s by passing out book rings with motivational affirmations or sharing calming techniques with staff members. She invests in people at MPE through her actions and engagement.
