Each year the Judson ISD Police Department works with our campuses in gathering as many canned yams as possible for the Raul Jimenez Thanksgiving Dinner. It's an event that feeds some 25,000 people downtown on Thanksgiving Day. That's quite an undertaking, but JISD campuses pitched in with more than 4,000 cans of yams for the big event. Elolf Elementary was the big winner this year collecting more than 1,800 cans with Wagner High School ROTC coming in second place. Volunteers with the Jimenez group came by the Police Department to load up the cans with local media from News 4 San Antonio to capture it all. This is the 9th year for the JISD Police Department to head up this drive and we say thank you to them and everyone who contributed to feeding the hungry on Thanksgiving Day.
