Judson ISD remembers & honors the fallen heroes of 9/11
This years day of remembering began early with the Judson ISD Police Department in partnership with City of Converse Police and Fire Department gathering to honor the fallen heroes of September 11, 2001 with a memorial stair climb.
The program included a brief remembrance ceremony then participants climbed several sets of stairs over an hour and a half, stopping along the way to commemorate specific times such as; when each building collapsed, and the time the pentagon was struck and the time that flight 93 crashed.
Firefighters and Police men and women were joined by coaching staff from JHS. A special way to commemoriate those heroes.
Later in the morning a special wreath laying ceremony was performed, the life and sacrifice of LTC Karen Wagner was remembered and honored by Judson ISD.
The JROTC Department at Wagner High School performed a memorial at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
LTC Wagner, who died at the Pentagon during the 9-11 attacks in 2001, was a 1979 graduate of Judson High School.
Wagner JROTC’s ceremony included the traditional wreath laying, remembrances of Lt. Col. Wagner’s contributions as a student and soldier, and ended with the playing of taps.
