District holds annual Bryce Strong Blood Drive

On April 26, 2022, the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center partnered with the Bryce Strong Foundation to hold their annual blood drive in the Judson High School auxiliary gym.

This annual event, which started last year, honors the legacy of Byrce Wisdom, a Judson High School student who passed away due to cancer. Before his passing on July 27, 2020, he gained national attention for his positivity and strength in dealing with his illiness.

In his memory, his mother started the Bryce Strong Foundation, which works to “bring awareness, assistance, & resources to adolescent cancer warriors & their families in honor of Bryce Wisdom.”

At the end of the blood drive, there was 105 units of blood collected, which means 315 lives were saved.

Also during the event, there was 117 Registered Donors, 75 Whole Blood, 14 Double Red Cell, 2 Red Blood Cell Plasma, 42 Deferrals, and 26 First Time Donors.

We definitely know that Bryce is smiling up in heaven this morning,” Donor Recruitment Consultant Liz Morales said.
