The Inaugural Operation Dog Tags Football Game kicked-off with the Wagner Thunderbirds facing the San Marcos Rattlers.
The game began with veterans and T-birds on the sideline together. Each player had "their" veteran's name proudly displayed on their jersey. Together, they watched the Golden Knights, the U.S. Army Veterans Parachute Team, land on the field of D.W. Rutledge Stadium with the United States and Texas Flags. It was an incredible evening honoring those who have served our country so devotedly.
The new tradition will continue with each JISD high school hosting Operation Dog Tags. Judson High School will host the event in 2023, followed by Veterans Memorial High School in 2024.
This amazing game ended with the Wagner High School Thunderbirds winning in overtime. Congratulations T-Birds!
