District comes together to Wobble-N-Gobble
On November 4, the JISD community came together to Wobble-n-Gobble in record numbers! Almost 500 people registered for the 5K fun run around the Wagner High School, and it was an absolutely perfect day for running, walking or even wobbling! The top male, female and student finishers headed home with frozen turkeys, and all finishers received Wobble-n-Gobble medals.
“We were so excited to see a huge increase in the number of runners this year. It was really a perfect day to get some exercise, support a great cause and have fun with our Judson ISD Family,” Lexie Greathouse, Judson Education Foundation Executive Director, said.
After the fun run, JISD served free turkey dinners with all the fixings to almost 1200 people. Meals were eaten on handmade placemats created by our Judson ISD elementary students. Proceeds from the run and generous donations from community and business partners cover the entire cost of the feast.
While attendees enjoyed their meals, they were entertained by talented JISD students from the Park Village Elementary K-2 Choir, the Metzger Orchestra, the Wagner High School Jazz Band and the Wagner High School Orchestra.
“I absolutely love being able to provide our families and community a free meal and wonderful fellowship. I am always amazed by what we can do as a community when we work together and support each other,” Jeanette Ball, JISD Superintendent, said.
JISD would like to thank the many Wobble-n-Gobble volunteers that gave up their Saturday to serve their school and community.
