Kirby's Bernadino Alonso retires after 26 years of service to Judson ISD
A line of students came to the library to wish Mr. Bernadino Alonso a happy retirement after 26 years at Kirby Middle School.
Literally, a revolving line.
As he celebrated his retirement, a line of students came into one door of the library, shook his hand, and walk through the other door. Literally, a line of students.
This is a testament to the impact Alonso had on campus.
“I like the school. I like the people,” Alonso said. “This was home.”
Of the 26 years in education, all of them have been with Judson ISD and at Kirby Middle School.
“This is like family,” Alonso said. “They’ve been happy with me and I’ve been happy with them.”
It just seemed like the timing was right. Now, he is able to put energy into spending time with those that matter the most to him.
“I want to spend time with my wife,” Alonso said. “I have my daughter and my son - just turned 27 years old yesterday. I want to spend time with them.”
Now that he’s retired, he has no plans on staying put.
“I want to travel with my wife,” Alonso said. “But, I am leaving happy and that is what matters. It’s my time to go.”
