The Judson ISD community voted not to approve the Voter-Approval Tax Rate Election (VATRE) on November 4, 2025. If passed, the District would have received approximately $21 million in additional annual revenue to support district operations such as maintaining student programming and supports and sustain competitive staff compensation.

The proposed measure would have resulted in a $0.045 total increase to the tax rate compared to last year. Despite the outcome, Judson ISD remains committed to fiscal responsibility and providing the highest quality education to our students within our available resources.

“While we are disappointed that the VATRE did not pass, we respect the decision of our voters and appreciate everyone who participated in this important process,” said Dr. Fields, Superintendent. “The failure of the VATRE means that our district will not have access to the $21 million in annual revenue it would have provided. As a result, we will need to make decisions in the months ahead to control costs while maintaining essential programs and supports for our students and staff. We need all of our stakeholders to come together as we begin a thoughtful and considerate decision-making process that will impact the future of our District.”

Still facing an approximate $37 million deficit, the District’s goal will be to minimize the impact on students and classrooms, but reductions will be necessary. Proposed measures in the District’s financial corrective action plans will be prioritized and implemented. Regular updates will be shared with staff, families, and community stakeholders as decisions are made in the coming months.
