Students on stage with flags and military uniforms

Veterans Memorial High School held its annual Veterans Day ceremony to honor U.S. military veterans and recognize their sacrifices made on behalf of all Americans. The event brought together students, staff, and community members to acknowledge the contributions of veterans in our community and across the country.

The ceremony featured performances by the talented VMHS Orchestra and Choir, along with the presentation of colors by the JROTC cadets.

This year’s guest speaker, Retired U.S. Army Lt. Col. David Morales, a San Antonio native and highly decorated veteran, shared personal stories from his time in JROTC that inspired his military service. He spoke to students about the importance of selfless service, recounting how he witnessed young people around the world serve with courage and compassion in times of combat, peace, and crisis.

Lt. Col. Morales encouraged cadets to continue their education and explore the many opportunities available through military service. He also reminded all students to express gratitude to veterans, not just on Veterans Day, but every day.
