District officials presented proposed boundary adjustments and outlined transition plans connected to upcoming campus consolidations during the Growth and Planning Meeting on March 23.
Proposed boundaries were prepared by Zonda based on projected community growth and projected enrollment within the next three to five years. Assistant Superintendent Dan Brooks said that the new boundaries would be approved at a future JISD Board meeting.
Interim Superintendent Dr. Jaklich shared that staff placement planning is underway, with a goal to assign employees affected by the closures by the end of April. He also reported that the JISD Human Resources team is meeting with staff one-on-one at closing campuses to gather preferences and evaluate available positions within the district.
Dr. Duhart-Toppen told the committee that the district is working to move Special Education units at closing campuses as a group to maintain existing important relationships and any needed ARD changes will be communicated to families as soon as possible. She also shared that additional campus orientation events will take place in May.
Both School of Choice and Out‑of‑District will remain options for families, however, all students must reapply for the upcoming school year.
