The first-ever School Health Advisory Committee (SHAC) Health Fair was a huge success and a celebration of community wellness. Planned and executed entirely by the SHAC, the event brought together health- and wellness-focused businesses and community groups from across our area to educate and promote healthy living for all ages.

With the help of 70 community volunteers, the fair offered something for everyone. Families lined up to enjoy the delicious food truck options that attracted visitors from all over the community, while students had fun jumping in the bounce house, playing with bubbles, getting their faces painted, and participating in fun activities. Students got up close with ESD-11’s fire truck and the Training Support Company from Camp Bullis brought their gear for kids to experience.

The spirit of collaboration was evident throughout the event.

“This Health Fair was a perfect example of what can be accomplished when we work together with a shared vision,” said Paula Johnson, executive director of student engagement. “The collaboration among families, staff, community partners and volunteers truly reflected SHAC’s commitment to supporting the whole child.”

Thank you to the SHAC for creating a wonderful event that was focused on the wellbeing of our students and families. We can’t wait for next year!
