The Judson High School gym was sparkling as members of the Judson Rocket Unified Basketball team put on their 2025 state championship rings for the first time. The ring ceremont celebrated the Rockets' latest state title and another milestone for a program that has established itself as one of the top Unified basketball teams with three consecutive championships.
Unified coach and coordinator Amy Paul reflected on the journey that led to the 2025 state title.
“The victory was not an accident. It was built through sweat and sore muscles. Champions are made in the moments when it is easy to quit, but you keep going anyway,” Paul said.
Before the rings were presented, JISD Chief of Operations Cecilia Davis reminded players that the accomplishment is more than what the scoreboard shows.
“These championship rings are a symbol of your commitment, your resilience and the friendships you've built along the way,” Davis said.
Jameson Baker and Hannah Kramer of Walsh Gallegos presented the championship rings. Their firm's generous donation made the celebration possible. Paul and Davis both thanked the firm for its support of Judson ISD's Unified athletes.
The district also welcomed representatives from Special Olympics Texas, who recognized the district’s commitment to Unified sports and creating inclusive opportunities for all students.
JISD Executive Director of Athletics Triva Corrales also shared a unique perspective on the occasion. Corrales earned a state championship ring of her own as head coach of the 2019 Judson Rockets girls basketball team.
She told the athletes that state champions belong to an elite class, one that every athlete dreams of joining, yet only a select few ever reach.
Then, looking at the newest members of that elite group of athletes, she said,
“Welcome to the club.”
