As part of their Certified Veterinary Assistant Level 1 program, these students are powering through 300 hours of real‑world experience. Students have been preparing and administering vaccines and medications to caring for new shelter arrivals, observing surgeries, and helping keep the clinic running smoothly. They’re getting the full vet‑clinic experience.
Director Joel Skidmore shared how proud he is of the energy and commitment they bring every day. One JHS intern even painted a mural in the cat room to make it more welcoming… and it’s been a total hit with visitors! 🎨🐱
To celebrate their hard work and the impact they’ve made, the Converse Animal Care team recognized them at the February Converse City Council Meeting on February 17th.

We understand that many people are concerned about how the district plans to handle the current budget deficit. There will be many difficult decisions ahead, but we intend to work through them openly and respectfully.
We wanted to address a few rumors that have been circulating in the community about closing or consolidating schools. At this time, no decisions have been made regarding school consolidations. However, we must consider school consolidations for the next school year as we prioritize our cost-savings measures. Any future recommendations will come from the Growth & Planning Committee. These decisions will be driven by data, which will include data from a comprehensive facilities assessment conducted by RVK and Corgan and the latest information from our demographic report.
School consolidations are not on tonight’s JISD Board Meeting agenda and will not be discussed. Growth and Planning Committee Meeting dates, updates, and presentation materials will be posted in the News section of the website and on the Growth and Planning webpage.
We are committed to keeping our community informed and will continue to provide updates and information as this work continues.
Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Judson ISD Administration

Students from Franz Leadership Academy took a short walk to the Live Oak Fire Department to learn all about fire safety!
During their visit, students got a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to be a firefighter, trying on bunker gear, practicing “stop, drop, and roll,” exploring the fire engine, spraying water with a real hose line, and even checking out the tools firefighters use every day.
Every grade level had the chance to learn, interact, and ask questions making Fire Prevention Week both fun and educational!
During the trip, students went on a traditional college tour to explore the campus, but that was just the beginning! They also had the chance to interact with college faculty, staff, and students who shared their experiences and advice. The day was filled with exciting activities, including setting college and career goals, playing a fun round of College Jeopardy, and joining in a panel discussion where our students were able to ask questions and learn directly from those currently in college.
We’re so proud of our Woodlake Elementary students for taking this important step toward their future!
The Judson Education Foundation Innovative Teacher & Principal Grants are officially open, and it's your chance to bring bold ideas to life in our classrooms! Apply here.
